Toby Levering - Youth MinisterToby Levering was born and raised in and around Wichita, KS. He attended church at the Emporia Avenue church of Christ where he was baptized. He was active in the youth group and served as an intern in the summers of 1996 and 1997. He graduated with highest honors from Mulvane High School in 1996. After graduating, he went to Oklahoma Christian University thanks in large part to the Blanche Philipps Scholarship Fund for young men wishing to pursue work in ministry. At Oklahoma Christian University, Toby pursued a BA in youth ministry. While a student, he spent a lot of time working campus jobs and was also the youth minister for a small church of Christ in El Reno, Oklahoma from 1998-1999. Toby was active in campus clubs and organizations including Outreach (student missions), Alpha Gamma Omega (social service) and Oklahoma Christian Housing Council. For academic work, Toby also received the Hugo McCord Bible Award for Outstanding Biblical Scholarship. He graduated in 1999 Summa Cum Laude. While in college, Toby found the love of his life in a Kansas girl. Toby had known Christy while in the youth group at Emporia Avenue Church of Christ. They dated and were engaged while Toby was at Oklahoma Christian. They were married following graduation on August 21, 1999. Christy has worked in retail sales, banking, and insurance. They have one son, Tyler and an annoying psycho cat! Toby was the youth minister at the West Olive church of Christ in Phoenix, Arizona from 1999-2000. When the opportunity came to serve in the same capacity in the city where he and Christy grew up, he gladly took it. He has been at Northside since January 1, 2001 and continues to minister to 85+ teens and their families. |
