Clearing
the Field
Jesus came that we
might have life-and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10) The
God of all joy does not want His children to live a joyless life
here on earth. He wants it to be abundant—full, overflowing, and
rich. And the Bible tells us how to do so. Just like a farmer
must clear the field of noxious weeds before he can have an
abundant harvest of wheat, we must get the major life-stealing
problems out of our hearts and our lives in order to live
abundantly. In this series, Clearing the Field, you will learn
the dangers of six particular problems—and hear specific,
practical ways to get them out of your life.

The Cause We Plead |
Jesus only built ONE church, and He
prayed that His followers would remain ONE. But now there
are thousands of “churches” all claiming to follow Christ.
How did we get into this mess—and how can we fix it? This
series, The Cause We Plead, starts with a
historic review of how the Church splintered into all of today’s
denominations, and then explains the Restoration Movement’s
attempts to restore the New Testament Church. The final
lessons present some very practical, biblical answers to how we
can pursue the goal of simply being New Testament Christians.

How to Become a Member of the Church |
If you call a dozen different
churches from the yellow pages and ask, “How can I become a
member of your church?” you will get a dozen different answers.
Every denomination has it’s own rules about how to join their
church. This series How to Become a Member of the Church, goes
straight to the New Testament for answers. Jesus only built ONE
church, and he gave direct instructions on how to become a part
of it. The New Testament is crystal clear—baptism puts us into
the church. This series looks at every case of conversion in the
New Testament, and also gives a straight forward definition of
biblical baptism.

The Purpose of the Church |
Is your church fulfilling its
purpose? What is the purpose of the church? The Bible says that
the church of Christ IS the body of Christ. That confers an
awesome responsibility on the Lord’s church today. We are
“called out” for a purpose—to do the work of Christ. Whatever
the head (Jesus) wants done is what the body should be doing.
This series presents six specific purposes which together draw a
strong Biblical picture of what Jesus would have us do.

| The
Organization of the Church |
When the New Testament speaks of the church, the
eklklesia, it does not refer to an organization, but simply
to the body of believers who share a commitment to Jesus. It
does, however, also use the same word "church" to refer to a
local congregation of believers. This series, The
Organization of the Church, explains what the New Testament says
about how those local churches should be operated or organized.
It contrasts the simple local autonomy of tall congregations wit
the complicated hierarchies of man[made organizations. It
describes the simple "servant-offices" of elders and deacons as
well as looking at God's desire for male spiritual leadership in
the church.

| The
Assemblies of the Church |
God's people have always "come together" for worship (Ps.
22:22). The New Testament Church assembled regularly (Acts
2:46). Christians are commanded to never stop meeting
together (Heb. 10:24). In this series, The Assemblies of the
Church , you will learn how, when, and why the New Testament
Christians assembled. You will also fid the biblical
answers to some common errors of the day, such as: the day of
worship, the purpose of the church assemblies, and acceptable
acts of worship. Special attention is given to explaining why
the Christians at Northside worship without instrumental
accompaniment.

A Week in the Name of Jesus |
It is a very practical application
of Paul's command in Colossians 3:17-"Whatever you do,
whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord
Jesus." This series looks at how a Christian should
apply that verse in seven specific areas of life. The
principles are straight from the Bible and are universal.
A new Christian could use these lessons as a "beginner's
manual," yet an experienced saint will find plenty of
encouragement to growth.

Most preaching
about money focuses only on our giving. God is interested in much
more than our contribution. The Bible has over 2,350 verses about
money and possessions. If we follow God’s principles for handling our finances, He will be able to bless us, mature us, and develop
us. If we fail to follow those principles, we will always be worried
and frustrated by our finances.
