Deacon Responsibilities

ADMINISTRATION (Elder: Albert Brensing)

Assembly Management

Coordinates attendance counting, baptismal support, sound booth operations and organization of those serving in worship.

Facility Management

Coordinates building operations, event preparation, grounds maintenance, vehicle maintenance and opening/closing of building.

Finance

Directs preparation of annual budget, manages all church finances, and produces monthly financial reports.

• Contribution Management – Counts and deposits all contributions.  Handles Know Your Bible finances.

• Small Accounts Payable – Manages incidental accounts payable.

Technology

Manages information systems, computer equipment, databases, reports, queries, audio/visual, and internet websites.

DISCIPLING (Elders: Ron Mauck, Brian Middleton, James Wilson)

Education

• Adult – Coordinates all aspects of adult Bible classes by planning classes, recruiting teachers, and advertising class offerings.

• Children – Coordinates all aspects of children’s Bible classes by researching curricula, planning classes, and recruiting teachers.

• Children’s Ministry – Coordinates children’s classes and activities outside of normal Sunday and Wednesday classes.

Groups

Coordinates the activities of the various fellowship groups, including the Goodtimers, Empty Nesters, Home Builders, Young Couples and Singles.

Involvement–New Member Introduction

Distributes nametags to new members and coordinates new member dinners.

Library

Manages the church library.

Media Ministry

Distributes lessons via tape, CD, video, tracts, Internet websites and cable.

Worship

Coordinates the training of men to serve in the worship assembly, selection of men to serve, and the planning of the worship assembly.

MEMBER CARE (Elders: Justin Abraham, Albert Brensing, Ron Mauck)

Benevolence

Assists members in financial crisis and arranges for financial counseling as needed.

Senior Member Support

Provides for older members’ special needs and plans activities for them.

OUTREACH (Justin Abraham, Brian Middleton)

Community Benevolence

Serves as a liaison to the Mustard Seed project and the Simple House community service efforts.

Local Evangelism

Coordinates efforts to reach non-Christians locally.

Missions

Coordinates foreign and domestic mission efforts.

Welcome Home–Sunday Guest Lunches

Coordinates visitor lunches after Sunday morning assemblies.

SPECIAL EVENTS (Elders: Albert Brensing, James Wilson)

Family Camp

Coordinates annual all-church Memorial Day weekend retreat.

Men’s Activities

Plans men’s spiritual/fellowship activities, father/daughter activities, and father/son activities.
