He started out as a lowly shepherd boy, but ended up king. He was courageous, brave, sincere, merciful, and compassionate. The story of David is an amazing chronicle of the 2nd king of Israel, a man whose kingship ended up in a covenant. Come with us as we spend this quarter studying a man whose heart belonged to God alone. We’ll look at his character, his battles, his victories and friendships, his defeats and his enemies.

Parables

In the original language it literally means “to throw alongside.” In our modern vernacular it’s a story that teaches a lesson, and Jesus loved telling stories. The psalmist prophesied about the coming Messiah in this way: “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter hidden things, things from of old.” Matthew notes that Jesus did not speak to the crowds without using a parable. His stories illustrated, taught, confused and sometimes angered those who heard them. We will spend Wednesday nights studying, telling and learning from the parables. You are invited to come alongside.
